We are pleased to announce the online doctoral dissertation defense for Hao Hao, a former doctoral student at the Yamada Laboratory and current Academic Research Collaborator. Hao has identified the issue of lecture-centered, rote-learning approaches in Japanese language education in China. By applying CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) as a form of Instructional Design and following Merrill’s First Principles of Instruction, she has examined design elements and developed a checklist for incorporating effective design into these courses.
