News: University Library Staff Workshop “Designing Learning in the Library”

2014年10月24日

Wow, it is already October. Even though it is the end of October, this is my first entry (lol).

On November 27, the Kyushu University Library will host a professional development workshop for learning and educational support in the Kyushu region titled “Designing Learning in the Library,” funded by the Japan Association of National University Libraries regional association grant. Chief Hyodo from the University Library consulted with me, and we spent time thinking about what the content should be. Yesterday, it was finally posted on the public relations page. I am relieved.

I imagine that many university libraries, including our own, are considering various forms of learning support, such as holding report-writing seminars or providing learning assistance. Some university libraries may even be creating e-learning courses. However, unless library staff have graduated from a faculty of education or a graduate school of education, I suspect many are struggling with how to design these seminars and other initiatives.

For this seminar, we have invited Professor Masukawa from Shizuoka University and Professor Goda from Kumamoto University, both of whom are at the forefront of the fields of learning sciences and Instructional Design, to serve as lecturers. It is rare to have the opportunity to receive lectures from professors at universities that are at the mainstream of learning sciences research and Instructional Design research in Japan. We are truly grateful.

However, as this workshop is being held as a project funded by the Japan Association of National University Libraries regional association grant for the Kyushu region, please note that in the event of a high number of applicants, priority for registration will be given to staff from national university libraries in the Kyushu region.

If you are currently involved in designing seminars, learning support, or e-learning materials at a university library and have a strong desire to apply these practices to your work (with priority given to staff from national university libraries in the Kyushu region), please do join us (please be aware that there is a possibility of a lottery if there are too many registrations).

Additionally, there are some points to note regarding participation, so please only register if you agree to these conditions. You can register via the URL below.
