Today was my first day at work. It took longer than expected at the ward office, so I barely made it on time… (laughs)
I received my appointment letter from Professor Maruno, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science. Afterward, we talked about the philosophy of the Faculty of Arts and Science, educational research, education and research at Kyushu University, the research fields covered by the Faculty of Education and the Graduate School of Human-Environment Studies, and the relationship between self-regulated learning and metacognition—a field I also research and one of Professor Maruno’s areas of expertise—as well as future research trends. It was a lively and enjoyable discussion. This was the first time I have had such an engaging conversation with a professor at the level of Vice President/Executive Vice President, and I felt truly excited.
After that, I went to the administrative office to fill out various documents and handle other matters… Understanding the university’s accounting system is extremely important. This is vital. I received a brief introduction to this.
Now, it is time to organize the laboratory. I need to get the environment in order. It looks like it will take some time to organize the books and the computer environment.
If you happen to come to the Ito Campus, please feel free to drop by. It is still a bit disorganized, though.
