All classes concluded today. Today was the final presentation for the Introduction to E-book Creation course. Students presented the e-books they had been working on throughout the semester, explained the background of their creation, and shared their final reflections.

Due to the number of students enrolled, we only had one team this time. However, they worked incredibly hard, even outside of class hours. For this project, they used iBooks Author as the creation tool, working on the Mac Minis available at our center.

The theme of the e-book they created was how to make e-books using iBooks Author. While there are guides on how to use iBooks Author on the web, the students felt they were “difficult to read,” so they created a simplified version that introduces basic functions. This includes text input, image insertion, video insertion, and links. It also covers how to insert media from a camera, as well as how to edit in iPhoto and iMovie, and how to convert video formats using QuickTime.

Our university requires all students to carry a laptop computer with Windows OS installed as a recommended model. Therefore, many students are not accustomed to using Macs in the first place. Anticipating this, they created this guide for students who will take this course next year.

It is a high-quality piece of work, and I am very grateful for it. I hope that what they have gained through this project-based learning course, Introduction to E-book Creation, will be applied to their future studies.
