Guidelines for Social Media Use

2012年07月11日

Recently, the use of social media, particularly Twitter, for public relations and communication has become widespread among companies and universities. There are even books on know-how, such as using Twitter for marketing. There are also web pages linked with Twitter, which is interesting. Innovative attempts, such as linking web-based games with Twitter, are also being actively conducted.
While it is not entirely clear how effective these methods are, the part that remains concerning is etiquette. This is something to keep in mind when using social media, such as Twitter and blogs, for business purposes.
Six Apart, famous for Movable Type, has published its social media guidelines under a Creative Commons license. As a company that handles social media, this is truly impressive. Activities using social media, starting with Twitter, will likely be used more frequently not just by individuals, but by organizations such as companies and universities. I believe that the formulation of such guidelines for organizational use will continue to progress.
