Our intensive seminar for learning research and analysis methods is becoming an annual tradition, and this time we focused on ENA (Epistemic Network Analysis). By processing qualitative data through methods like coding to make it quantitatively manageable, and then performing ENA, we can analyze the relationships between elements such as the frameworks used for coding. We used the ENA tool available online for our analysis.

While I have reviewed papers that use ENA (though I am not an expert in ENA, so I assume I am expected to review from other perspectives), I had never used it myself. However, since I have discourse analysis data that can be processed with ENA, I used it for the analysis tutorial in this study session, and we all learned together with the students. We covered the basic concepts of ENA, did a round-table reading of papers that utilize it, followed by a tutorial, and then held a general discussion. It was a very educational experience. I would like to thank Dr. Geng for planning and organizing this session.

Starting with Lag Sequential Analysis in the first session, Meta-Analysis in the second, and now ENA in the third, I would like to continue thinking about how we can incorporate various research trends into our own work. I wonder what we should do next… I am looking forward to the next one.
