It is already the middle of June, and it is getting hot… In Fukuoka today, it felt like it was at least 32 or 33 degrees Celsius. The university feels slightly cooler, though. It feels like summer has arrived, skipping the rainy season entirely.

In September, the Japan Society for Educational Technology (JSET) National Conference will be held at Tohoku Gakuin University. Yamada Laboratory has submitted 3 presentations. Since the autumn conference will be a poster session, we would be happy if those who are interested could come and discuss our work with us.

For Geng-kun’s (first author) presentation, we will report on the design and development of a learning dashboard that utilizes logs from the handwriting memo function on the digital learning material distribution system “B-QUBE.” While there are many possibilities for analyzing handwritten data, we have examined what kind of data analysis would be more useful for teaching and will introduce what we have developed as a prototype.

This will be Li-san’s final presentation as a master’s student. Her research has focused on developing a VR system to support the learning of Japanese emotional words (such as “wakuwaku” or “dokidoki”), and she will report on the results of examining the relationship between presence and cognitive load based on data collected in her experiments.

As a learning dashboard to promote classroom improvement, Higuchi-kun is attempting to develop a learning dashboard for teachers based on the concept of real-time analysis conducted by Professor Shimada. The question is how to provide feedback to teachers using B-QUBE logs… We have examined its design, so we would appreciate it if those who are interested could provide their feedback.

However, the JSET National Conference overlaps with the Jazz Festival, so hotel prices are extremely high!! There are not many vacancies, so I booked ours in a hurry. Dinner also seems like it will be quite difficult to manage…
