I am very grateful to have been awarded a Challenging Research (Exploratory) grant. Honestly, I am the most surprised person of all. I never expected it to pass… well, of course, I wrote the application believing it was good research and with the desire to have it accepted, but looking at the acceptance rates, I honestly felt it was a daunting gate to pass.

First, I would like to express my gratitude to the reviewers. I am deeply thankful that, amidst their busy schedules and the large number of applications, they found value in this research. Although it is a three-year project, I will do my best to ensure it becomes a meaningful study.

The theme is Self-Regulated Learning, and the goal is to examine and construct a model of Self-Regulated Learning that combines learning logs, classroom seating positions, and behavioral data. It is truly a “challenging” theme. Since the similarity of learning behaviors is also involved, I hope to organize these aspects well and build an integrated Self-Regulated Learning model.

For co-investigators, I will be working with Professor Goda from Kumamoto University and Professor Egi from the University of Electro-Communications. I have asked Professor Goda to handle educational evaluation and model construction from the perspective of Instructional Design, and Professor Egi to handle sensor-based system development and log-related system development.

I look forward to making this a successful research project.
