It is the start of the new year, and I have received a series of grateful and celebratory news. I received notification that a co-authored paper has been accepted.

Exploring the Relationships between Reading Behavior Patterns and Learning Outcomes based on Log Data from e-books: A Human Factor Approach, International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction. (Impact factor: 1.118(2016))

This is a paper with Dr. Yin from Kobe University as the lead author, and I am the second author. It is research that Dr. Yin conducted while at our university’s Learning Analytics Center, and looking at the content brings back fond memories. It was a long battle, wasn’t it? Dr. Yin, thank you for your hard work. I believe this is a wonderful research achievement with an impact factor. The content concerns research on visualization technology for learning logs accumulated on the eBook viewer we were operating at the time, and the relationship between the learning styles and learning outcomes identified from them. It is a development research paper that covers the development of a system that displays learners’ eBook learning behaviors through an easy-to-read interface, and findings such as the tendency for learners who engage in backtracking behavior to achieve better learning outcomes.

I would like to express my gratitude to the reviewers and the Chief Editors for their guidance. I believe this research contributes to the development of Learning Analytics research. Thank you very much. It was stimulating. I will also do my best to publish my own first-author papers. 2018 has only just begun!! Before you know it, it’s already the end of January. Time to get to work.
