I am very pleased to announce that a full paper submitted by one of our master’s students has been accepted to the international conference SITE 2017!!
Tang, F., Wang, B.,Kaneko, K., Goda, Y., Okada, Y. and Yamada.M. (2017). Design and Assessment of a Location-based Game to Support English Vocabulary Learning in University, Proceedings of SITE 2017, in printing
This is a joint research project with Professor Okada from the Center for Educational Materials Development at the Library, Professor Kaneko from the Cybersecurity Center, and Professor Goda from Kumamoto University. Mr. Wang, a student of Professor Okada, presented at an international conference in Rome in October regarding a framework and development tools that allow for the development of location-based games without requiring advanced programming skills. This current presentation focuses on the English vocabulary learning game designed by our student, Ms. Tang, which was developed as a test case for that framework. This report covers the results of a pilot study on the game’s design evaluation and ability assessment.
Between the previous acceptance of a short letter and this full paper acceptance, I am very happy as these are the first students I have supervised in research. They are working very hard. Our two students are currently writing their master’s theses. I am delighted that they have achieved such wonderful results at the end. I hope they finish their research without any regrets, and I hope their juniors will follow in their footsteps!!
