Our research results have been published in a short letter!!

I am very grateful that some of the research results I have been involved in have been accepted for the special short letter issue of the Japan Society for Educational Technology!!

I would like to thank the reviewers who provided guidance for the inclusion of these results in the short letter. Thanks to their feedback, I believe the work has been improved. I will continue to work hard to further enhance these research outcomes. I would also like to thank everyone who supported the execution of this research.

The first is a practical study that addressed the topic of infectious diseases in high school science education, verifying the effects of teaching the mechanisms, threats, and characteristics of infections using the Knowledge-Constructive Jigsaw Method and light game-based elements. In recent years, research related to medicine and nursing has increased within the Japan Society for Educational Technology, but there is very little research on health education in primary and secondary education. Furthermore, since the time allocated for health education in primary and secondary education is extremely limited, effective teaching methods that fit within that timeframe are required. I hope this research provides some hints for promoting effective health education. This research is a result of the “Fukuoka Prefectural School New Learning Project,” a project promoting active learning in public high schools, and we received support from the Fukuoka Prefectural Board of Education, Mikasa Shoji Co., Ltd. for providing Chromebooks, and the Panasonic Education Foundation. Thank you very much.

The second is a KAKENHI-funded research project on Self-Regulated Learning, which has now entered its third term. We have previously made various attempts to support Self-Regulated Learning using ICT, but this time, the system is designed to support Forethought (especially Planning) and Monitoring for Self-Regulated Learning in a situation where the student is learning alone. In this short letter, we have published the results of an evaluation conducted to gain hints on how to proceed with future improvements and development of this system. We plan to carry out revisions and proceed with full-scale evaluations in the future.

I will continue to strive daily to conduct good research and apply its results to practice.
