I have been invited to give a keynote speech at the 99th All Japan Library Conference, specifically for Sub-committee 2, “Considering Learning Support in Libraries” (November 22), held in Fukuoka from November 21 to 22, 2013. Thank you very much for this opportunity. I have had the chance to speak at various venues in the past, but in addition to my usual topics, I would like to include a discussion on the required course “Learning Sciences” that I am currently teaching as an adjunct faculty member in the Library Science Program at the Graduate School of Integrated Frontier Sciences. Furthermore, this time, in addition to the keynote speech, I have been asked to serve as a panel coordinator.

I have always felt it was a pity that there was little time to take questions from participants due to time constraints. Therefore, I plan to conduct the panel by incorporating the method that Professor Yamauchi used at BEAT seminars when I was at the University of Tokyo BEAT. Since this request for me to be a coordinator came after the time schedule and speakers had already been decided, it is beyond my control and time management will be difficult. However, since we are spending an entire day on this, I would like to hear from the participants, and I hope that the participants will also take something home with them. I would be happy if you could discuss it at your workplace or similar settings (I was happy to receive questions via email from a participant who did so previously).

Registration was required in advance, and Sub-committee 2 is now fully booked for both the morning and afternoon sessions. I am grateful to the many people who have registered. I hope to make this a productive session. Thank you for your cooperation.
