A joint seminar by Maruzen and Dai Nippon Printing (DNP) titled “New Learning Environments and the Role of University Libraries” will be held in Osaka on January 27, 2012. The keynote speaker is Professor Yuhei Yamauchi, my former supervisor, who has provided invaluable support for many projects, including the design of our university’s Learning Commons. Professor Yamauchi, who has conducted research and practice on active learning and learning spaces, will share insights based on various case studies and research findings. Opportunities to hear such talks are rare these days, so I would like to cherish this one.
I will also be participating as a panelist in the panel discussion that follows, albeit in a small way. It has been two years since our university’s Learning Commons started, and I have been working through trial and error alongside the staff at the Center for Educational Development and the library staff. I look forward to discussing the future development of university libraries and learning spaces with Professor Yamauchi, fellow panelist Makoto Inoue from Doshisha University (it has been a while!), representatives from Maruzen, and all the attendees. I am very much looking forward to it.
Please note that registration will close once capacity is reached.
Thank you for your interest.
