A dialogue at the Kanazawa University Learning Commons has been published online

2011年08月18日

The Kanazawa University Library bulletin “Kodama,” which features a dialogue between Professor Yuhei Yamauchi (Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies, The University of Tokyo), who provided his expertise in the design of the Kanazawa University Learning Commons, and Professor Masayoshi Shibata, Director of the University Library and Dean of the School of Humanities, has been published online. The title of the dialogue is “How will learning spaces change libraries?”

The dialogue took place in the Open Studio on the third floor of the library. I served as the moderator, and I was thrilled by the lively discussion between the two. It was a wonderful time. Thank you very much, Professor Yamauchi. On a personal note, as Professor Yamauchi was my former supervisor, I was deeply moved to be able to show him the current state of the Learning Commons that he helped us design. I am very happy.

It has only been about a year since our university’s Learning Commons opened, and I would like to continue working hard to make it even better.
