As someone in the field of Educational Technology, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to contribute to a book on higher education. I was invited by Professor Aono of this center to write Chapter 18, “Internationalization of Higher Education and e-Learning.” Thank you very much.

Professor Matsukawa from Osaka University, with whom I am still on good terms, also contributed Chapter 16.

The content covers recent trends in the internationalization of higher education, the role of ICT within those trends, e-learning for Japanese language education (Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and the Japan Foundation), and OCW (MIT).
